In a twist of this section's "member introductions" theme, share with everyone how you were introduced to Mass Effect! While you ponder your response, listen to & enjoy my Vigil supermix. Vigil (Mass Effect supermix)I was introduced to Mass Effect around late 2010. Both ME1 and 2 were on sale on Steam and were featured in the main store page. I was intrigued by the retro look of ME1 which reminded me of 90s games. At the time I wasn't much of a sci-fi fan but I was intrigued enough to give it a shot. I bought both games and I got started with ME1. Immediately, the first thing to snare me was the main menu background.....and that timeless tune. It gave me a sense of bliss. Now, being the thieving cheater that I am, I looked up all those console commands to give myself the armors & guns because I hate scavenging. BIG MISTAKE. The inventory, being the primitive mess that it is, completely frustrated me. I sat there on Eden Prime's starting spot for over an hour trying to make sense of everything. That didn't work. I was so frustrated that I actually quit the game and didn't touch it again for several months. But "Vigil" stayed in the back of my mind. I still bought the ME2 DLCs and by that time, Arrival's release was imminent and Mass Effect 3 was mere months away from release. I downloaded the ME3 demo and was blown away at the difference it had with ME1 in.....everything. That's when I said "that's it, I'm gonna play those damn games". And boy, did I PLAY them! ME3 was weeks away from release, so I fired up ME1 and looked up all the tips I could find to make sense of the gameplay aspects. I had a total blast. The soundtrack is what got to me the most, they certainly nailed it. Took me 3 days total to complete ME1 and as soon as I did, I imported my save into ME2 and got it started immediately. Took me a full weekend with minimal rest in between and I can honestly say it was a helluva rollercoaster. ME2 felt like a completely different game to me, loved the polish and I noted with glee how closely it resembled ME3. By the time I started ME2 all the DLCs were available so my first experience was the complete one. Having to go back n forth to ME3 to play each new DLC was a bit of a buzzkill. At least I knew I had another game to play when I finished the first 2 games. This time having to wait at least 2-3 years to play the next chapter of Andromeda will be painful. And there you have it! How about you?

My friend game me an advice to check out Mass Effect and I'm grateful for that. Mass Effect 1 was mind-blowing to me. All these different planets, all these different aliens you couldn't tell from the animals... Did a complete playthrough with all the sidequests. Had a really warm feeling inside and couldn't get ahead to see what ME2 would be like.
When I loaded up ME2 and noticed right away a shift in the tone as well as the gameplay improvements. Didn't like thermal clips at all, especially because I was playing soldier. Even if I didn't miss a shot with Adrenaline Rush, thermal clips hurt my experience. The atmosphere overall felt more "modern", "cool" and "dark". More orange than blue definitely. And Cerberus...didn't understand why suddenly everyone caught an idiot ball and forgot about Reapers, it really got on my nerve that I couldn't act on my own as a Spectre like I did in ME1, without reporting to Cerberus. While it was an entertaining experience I didn't pay any attention to the plot so the characters made my experience enjoyable, especially how everyone was involved in the Suicide Mission.
ME3 felt...different. While it felt slightly more talky than ME2 and had once again more blue colors it didn't feel like ME1 to me and I had some lingering vibe that something was off. I loved the Tuchanka ark, it felt like the story was interesting once again... Then Kai Leng appeared and I understood exactly what was off. And closer I got to the end the bumpier was the ride. And then those WTF endings happened... I don't regret playing Mass Effect trilogy because it ended like that but I wish it wouldn't shift so much from the first game story-wise. I'm still in love with Mass Effect world and I'm interested to see what they will do with Andromeda.

My old pc was so bad, barely any games worked there (kotor did). When I bought a better one I looked on amazon for games that just looked great (better than what worked on my old pc), so I bought ME2. I was so blown away by the graphics, I didn't even realize that I was playing on one of the lowest resolutions and with pretty low graphical setting overall. One year later and after playing the first game I finally changed everything to the highest settings and was blown away again .

I had some time on my hands and a couple of people recommended it to me. I borrowed my son's copies of the entire trilogy and he still hasn't got any of them back from me. Whenever I figure I'm done with it and I should return his discs to him, I wind up thinking of a different play through that I want to try instead. I to take some breaks from it to do other things or to play other games, but I always seem to go back to the trilogy eventually. If they ever get around to doing a remaster for the Xbox One, I figure I'll buy new discs for my son then... since I've almost worn out the Xbox 360 ones I borrowed from him.

Pretty simple for me. Origin sent out a free copy of DAO when DAI was released. I tried it out, loved it, bought DA2, loved that, and wanted more BioWare stuff. All I could find that was recent was Mass Effect but I hesitated cause I hate 'space stuff'. But I loved DA so so much and kept reading in the forums references to Liara and Miranda...I gave in. Bought ME1 and it proved me wrong. Space stuff is actually pretty good.

No fascinating story. I seen trailers for Mass Effect, but saw it was for Xbox only. So I didn't think much more on it. One day I was looking at PS3 Coming Soon, on Gamestop, and seen Mass Effect 2. No picture, just the name and a description. I read the description, and I paraphrase "Travel space as Commander Shepard, hero of the Citadel. Meet interesting aliens, drive amazing vehicles, and view the splendid scenery. Play as Shepard and combat an ancient foe." I was like "That's not much to go on, but it's space and I love Sci-Fi." Well, PS3 got a demo and I fell in love with it. When I read Mass Effect 3 was coming, I preordered on the spot, but found out too that Mass Effect was coming to PS3. So I bought Mass Effect from PlayStation Store and played it. I didn't open ME3 until I played Mass Effect, imported to 2, then imported to 3.

I think it was all the talk about the ending of the third game, if I remember right I think that's how I first really started to hear of the series. After watching some videos the games looked really interesting and so I decided to give it a try, and I completely loved it. I remember after finishing the third game the first time I instantly wanted to do another playthrough of the first game again which then lead me into replaying the entire trilogy again. After playing Mass Effect I wanted to try out Dragon Age too and so that's when I really started to like the DA series as well.

I played Baldur's Gate and realized I liked what BioWare was about. Then I played NwN and realized I REALLY liked what BioWare was about. Then I played KotOR and fell in love with what BioWare was about, enough to subscribe to their newsletter. Desperately pacing back and forth waiting for a KotOR3 announcement, they instead announced Mass Effect, a game I initially took a deep and intense disliking to because 1) It wasn't KotOR3, and 2) It felt a great deal like Star Wars with the serial number filed off.
Still, being firmly in the BioWare camp at the time, I gave it a shot, testing a friend's copy on his 360. Eden Prime was so-so and I didn't really feel impressed until the Beacon scene. But by the time the Normandy arrived at the Citadel, I was fucking SOLD. Bought both the game and a 360 of my own in early 2008, and then proceeded to progress further in the game. I loved it, but it wasn't until the Vigil scene and the epic ending that my love for the game turned into religious worship, which lasted until my God betrayed me in the last 5 minutes of ME3.

Well, I have always loved space so any game that involved it I was immediately interested in. I saw the trailer for Mass Effect and saw it was done by Bioware, who I knew as the creators of one of my favorite RPGs, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. So I followed the news about it, and when it came out on the Xbox 360 I got it. I have been hooked ever since, though admittedly with ups and downs.

A friend thought I might like it. I thought it was just KOTOR without Star Wars. Then I spoke with Sovereign and, well, here I am on my 20th trilogy run. Absolutely love it.

In 2010 my father took me to GameStop and told me to get mass effect 2. I refused but bought it anyway. Advice: Always try something at least once cause YOLO.

Having played and loved Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, when I played PC games and having played and loved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (I literally burned the disc out from playing it so much I had to go out another copy) and Jade Empire on my original Xbox that I went to BioWare's website and found out that Mass Effect was in the works and it sounded interesting and I went out bought an Xbox 360 and it was Bringing Down the Sky that pushed me to get Xbox Live then I joined BSN and now NU BSN and the rest as they say is history.
