Book publisher Titan Books is coming out with the first novel from N. K. Jemisen, call Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation. Now, here is what is interesting. According to the publisher’s Fiction Rights Guide description, it will be treated as a
>>>>>>> canonical text and “become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga.” <<<<<<<<<
That's right folks. This novel explains everything. How? I don't know. But, I can speculate that the old FTL limitations are bypassed. One more item. Each novel, according to Titan Books, will focus on key characters that will answer many questions from Mass Effect fans.
And, the publisher also stated that the novels will serves both as a prequel and as sequels.
Another tidbit. Initiation tells the story in-between the new game and the old.
Does this mean we will see four single independent games or a quadrology? Who know. One thing is certain, Bio will smooth out story inconsistencies and give us new canonical descriptions. maybe the Star Brat will disappear.

Didn't they say that Andromeda will be the start of a new trilogy?
And if they're gonna turn books into game canon, it better not turn out to be another Deception. That's all I'm gonna say on the matter.

Does anyone know release? I read sometime in August. August 19th I think but I'm not sure. I bought many comics but never a ME novel. I still haven't finished the Star Wars prequel "Lost Stars"

I still have not found a publishing date from Titan Books.
Since these books are supposed to focus on key characters, I'm speculating that Ryder and family are in the prequel. The novel may even mention Shep, Liara, Mordin and maybe Grunt or Wrex. Why? because we know a Krogan and a Salarian are in the bridge of a ship (from video teaser).
Also, I'm wondering in what manner the author will make new canonical "facts" to erase ME1-3 FTL restrictions. After all. the ARKs' journey to Andromeda is only 600 years.

What's the first book called.... Andromeda Initiate? I doubt it will feature any of the old cast, especially those who can die. As always more interested really in the backstories of the (presumably mostly alien) supporting cast. Maybe the new book could be an early introduction to characters we have not met yet. That would require a lot of involvment from Mac and the writing staff so I doubt it but anything is possible.

Like Guanxi, I doubt ME-3 characters will be mentioned, aside maybe for Javik (can he die?) Liara's father etc. But all key characters for Andromeda, perhaps.

I'm on a bit of a hiatus from reading, since i've burned through so many lately but i'll definitely will give at least the first couple of books a read. Though, to be honest, i hope they're better than some of the older Mass Effect novels. Nothing against the writers, it's just, well, they could have been smoother reading.

I'm not going to get any of the books. I've tried to read books related to games before and they are almost all universally terribly written and confusing and do nothing to actually explain anything that's in the game.
To clarify- the books that I have read that deal with a video game universe typically describe some event mentioned in passing in the game that really has no effect on how I see the world of the game at all. Besides, everything important will be explained in Andromeda anyway.
