I dunno, I figured Asari in general have Kelly beat in that department. Aethyta romanced an elcor, hanar and a turian. I mean, come on, sure people can say they're aliens, but they still look like human women. If they say that Kelly trained in Psychology but nothing more, then I have to wonder if she just took a few classes in counseling but didn't finish or if she does have the license but no experience with soldiers dealing with PTSD. She seems at times, too cheerful, too naive to understand just how ticked off an Akuze Survivor could be to hear her praising the organization that put Shepard's team through a thresher maw meat grinder. I like her, I truly do, but talking to her in the beginning made it shamefully obvious Cerberus was putting up a front.

That running joke has no basis in fact. Heck, she is one of if not the only romance in the trilogy where sex does not necessarily occur with even Shepard. She was written along the same line of thought as Josephine and Solas in DAI, where the player could interpret whether the relationship was purely romantic or if it involves sexual intimacy as well. Oh I never believed the joke, it just stands out precisely because it doesn't make sense. On a side note, the option of cuddling or making out with Kaidan in the Citadel dlc made a lot more sense after seeing the request for implied sex to be optional.

I think one of the problems with Kelly is BioWare's treatment of her. It's just too damn easy to get the girl killed.
Imagine if you were playing ME in a vacuum, with no internet connection for the entirety of the trilogy. You'd get to the collector attack and many ppl would think 'but wait, I HAVE to do Legion's quest, there are millions of hostile geth!'. Boom, Kelly's soup.
Then 'oh hi Kelly, so good to see you helping out the refugees here on the Citadel! Yeah you should totally stay, they need great ppl like you helping them out'. Gets shot in the head.
Consequently in my 4 playthroughs Kelly will only live to see the demise of the Reapers in one of them. She's harder to keep alive than Conrad Verner (without metagaming).

I'm sure you know that when Kelly tells Shepard she was spying on Shepard, she will commit suicide if the player chooses the bottom right dialogue after hearing what Kelly said.

I knew you could do that and knew Ken and Gabby mentioned it, but that scene with the Batarian and Human Refugees is new to me. That scene was even sadder than the one with Ken and Gabby.

Why would Shepard be surprised that Kelly was reporting information on everyone to the Illusive Man? Even Mordin will tell Shepard about the bugs he removed from his lab and offer to help look for any if Shepard gets involved with either Miranda or Jacob. At this point, being angry with Kelly is like being angry that Cerberus is killing people. It's outdated information

I liked Kelly, she was the second romance I did after Tali but before Traynor.
I was really disappointed with how they handled her character, she had potential as a psychiatrist on a ship full of people with many issues but she was little more than an informer for when you had a private message. There's just so little interaction with her, but what little you got was really sweet. You don't even get to see when you invite her for dinner to your cabin, it's just a fade to black then done.
In ME3 it was even worse. There's a total of three conversations with her and they are all really short. It's also really easy to get her killed and isn't she screwed anyways since the Citadel gets taken by the Reapers? Shepard never even acknowledges her death, too and it's all handled off-screen. In the Citadel DLC where we are meant to be spending time with our friends and loves, she gets a passive mention during Thane's funeral.
I love Mass Effect but this was really disappointingly, she felt very shoehorned in.

About the Citadel being taken by the Reapers, it should be noted that unless you choose Refuse Bioware stated that she along with any other named character survive the Reaper War. Their survival is due to shelters that are built into the Citadel. It was weird how the Citadel DLC didn't allow you to invite her, or other non-companion crew members like Dr. Chakwas. The only non-companion crew members there are Joker, Samantha, and Steve. However I see that as a mixed blessing, since there were things done to characters in the Citadel DLC that I was not a fan of so we avoided that with Kelly.

What did you not like about the Citadel DLC? And I doubt the DLC could have done much to harm her, since we got such little interaction from her in the first place.

There was just a few various things they did with the characters that I didn't like, mainly during the party. Plus I also didn't like how that DLC took a lot of agency away from my Shepard, for example there being no option to refuse to drink alcohol. I don't know. They could have taken jokes on the forum and made them no longer jokes. They've done that with other characters.

Guess that ultimately meant nothing.
