Looking at those just hurts me from how underdeveloped Kelly's character is in the actual game.
And it makes me feel bad for romancing Traynor (even though I like her too) out of knowledge of how little Kelly has in Mass Effect 3. If Kelly had more story and they actually bothered to make her romance worth doing, I'd have felt compelled to stick with her.
Oh well, in my head-canon Shepard did Synthesis so it doesn't really matter.

I think one of the problems with Kelly is BioWare's treatment of her. It's just too damn easy to get the girl killed. Imagine if you were playing ME in a vacuum, with no internet connection for the entirety of the trilogy. You'd get to the collector attack and many ppl would think 'but wait, I HAVE to do Legion's quest, there are millions of hostile geth!'. Boom, Kelly's soup. Then 'oh hi Kelly, so good to see you helping out the refugees here on the Citadel! Yeah you should totally stay, they need great ppl like you helping them out'. Gets shot in the head. Consequently in my 4 playthroughs Kelly will only live to see the demise of the Reapers in one of them. She's harder to keep alive than Conrad Verner (without metagaming). I'm sure you know that when Kelly tells Shepard she was spying on Shepard, she will commit suicide if the player chooses the bottom right dialogue after hearing what Kelly said. Yeah, that happened during either my first or second playthrough of ME3. I thought Shepard had every right to be angry with her about spying on him and then, boom, he overhears about what she did... I was gutted... felt like such an inconsiderate heel.

What did you not like about the Citadel DLC? And I doubt the DLC could have done much to harm her, since we got such little interaction from her in the first place. There was just a few various things they did with the characters that I didn't like, mainly during the party. Plus I also didn't like how that DLC took a lot of agency away from my Shepard, for example there being no option to refuse to drink alcohol. I don't know. They could have taken jokes on the forum and made them no longer jokes. They've done that with other characters. I thought there was an option to refuse to drink. Something about Shepard commenting on how somebody has to drive them home. I do get what you mean about the railroading. They gave some preferences and reactions of Shepard I didn't like, like the overblown ego while watching Salarians do a parody movie about Shepard's missions

I like Kelly. The most adorable person of the entire trilogy. So kind and genuine. The light in the darkness. I expected the same of Liara but Bioware decided otherwise. Unfortunately I didn't see Kelly as a serious romance, just a fling at best. No strings attached kind of relationship. Even in ME3 it's a little more than a friendship. I love sexual relationships with no strings attached but they could have given Kelly much more content. A shame, because of all people to romance, Kelly would be my pick.
And I don't understand why would someone think of her as a person who sleeps around with everybody and would screw a varren. What is the basis? Where did all that start? I remember Mordin said about the scale itch but to be honest my first guess would be Jack rather than sweet Kelly. Is that because she said that she loves other species as well as humanity?

I think so. She said that since she has a great understanding of all species as a psychiatrist, it allows her to find an attraction in all of them. She also tends to mention the beauty of all the squadmates you recruit (Tali, Samara, Thane). So people blew it out of proportion and assumed it meant she screws everything. I don't like that view either, it just doesn't seem like Kelly. Putting on a dancer getup is one thing, but screwing varren is a whole other.

How could anyone come to that conclusion? Apparently it's not possible to appreciate someone's beauty without any sexual meaning. And apparently it's easy to sleep with everyone you find attractive.

You know, I heard that originally Kelly was supposed to have a much more prominent role in ME3 regarding her relationship with Shepard, but most of it was cut. Does anyone know anything about this?

I never took it literally. It was just the running joke of the time back then. No basis, but still. It is a harmless joke. Kelly is a genuine sweet girl. I kinda felt awful when I didn't save her from the collectors in a old play through.

Yeah, I never saw any distaste for Kelly from anyone really. People just like to make fun of her "I love everything" attitude.
